– The Flower –

The Flower is a four-minute, traditionally-animated short animated film set in 15th century Japan, and is the final unreleased legacy of the Walt Disney Feature Animation Florida Studio, which existed at Walt Disney World from 1988 to 2004. Envisioned by director Andrew Simmons, an original employee of the Florida Studio, the film was developed as a side project within the studio and utilized the great talents of many of the artists who brought to life the classic Disney films of the 1990s and early 2000s, including Mulan, Lilo & Stitch, and Brother Bear. Production of the film began in 1998 and continued until 2004, when the Florida Studio was closed. At that time, the film remained unfinished, perhaps never to be completed. But, due to the perseverance of director Andrew Simmons and his crew, the film has since been resurrected as an independent production, retaining all the work done at the Florida Studio and combining it with art created by a diverse, vibrant team of international artists. This film is a lifelong dream for everyone who has worked on it, and we the team hope that, in following our progress to bring it across the finish line, you will help keep the legacy of hand-drawn animation, and of the Disney Florida Studio, shining brightly into the years to come.
