Production Update: Our very first scene has come back from Xentrix Toons and we instantly put it into color models where Jaison Wilson, our Art Director, did his color magic. We are super pleased with the results and hope to have the entire scene painted and composited soon. Onward!

Production Update: We are currently completing art assets as we get ready to hand over the project to an animation studio the first quarter of next year. My good friend Jim Elston was kind enough to hammer out the following Crane design and needless to say, we are super excited to have some animation completed with his design work guiding the way. Production Update: There has been a lot of movement behind the scenes since the kickstarter ended, but as of today, we have put scene 30 into production. Our artist will be cleaning up the lady character and here is a glimpse of the work they are producing. Simply put, we are excited to see this scene move through the production pipeline and can’t wait to get it in color!

Sometimes you need to treat yourself, which I did this week by having Flower posters printed! I’ve lost count on how many Disney posters I received from my days at the Mouse House but printing one for your own film is too freaking cool! Serious thanks go out to Tim Hodge for his fantastic work on the official poster. Thank you @baldmelon

As for a production update, we have collected over $9000 in donations so far and our unit in Japan is starting production on Scene 2. What a surreal journey it has been and it is only because of you and your support!

There has been a lot of movement going on behind t

There has been a lot of movement going on behind the scenes since our Kickstarter finished. Although we missed our funding goal, the doors of support that the Kickstarter opened have been fantastic. In short, a few of our top backers have reached out and expressed their support by sending us financial contributions, and this means we can start active production! While the contributions we've received so far are not enough to finish the film, they are enough for us to begin moving forward. Let me say that again just so it becomes real to us as well. We are starting animation on the film!

Beginning next week, Scene 2 will go into active production. The first work to be done will be the clean-up animation of the Crane, and complete animation of the Flower and the ripple effects. We have posted the scene as it currently is for our supporters to see, and as the remaining elements are completed, we will post updates.

Thank you to everyone who has helped get us to this point as we would not be here today without it! And thanks to all for your continued support, You guys rock!

In today’s post, I thought I would share my favorite story board from The Flower. This story board encompasses everything I want to achieve with this project. It perfectly sets the mood and atmosphere that life changes and even ends as time goes on but there is also beauty and simplicity everywhere you look. Sadly this board was cut from the story but the inspiration it provides still lives on in every scene of the film. Kudos to @baldmelon for nailing it all those years ago.
