The actual inspirations for this project are too many to list; however, some of the most influential are listed below.

Morikami Museum

Is a great place to visit and immerse yourself in Japanese culture without traveling all the way to Japan. Their gardens are especially beautiful and tranquil and most of my reference photos were taken here: a wonderful source of inspiration.

Patrick Nagel

One could not have a discussion on Japanese wood block prints in a modern era without taking a look at Patrick Nagel’s work: simple lines, effective design, and sexy.

Hokusai

Hokusai was one of the two main Japanese artist who directly influenced the film’s look and feel.

Hiroshige

Hiroshige was one of the two main Japanese artist who directly influenced the film’s look and feel.
